The Health Department will lead an intensive sanitation and vector control drive in homes, institutions, and public places from August 10 to 15, as part of infectious diseases control measures.

The action plan will be taken up by ward-level sanitation committees and supervised by panchayats, Corporations, and municipalities.

Mobile teams

Mobile medical teams will revisit migrant labour camps across the State on August 2, 9, and 16, while health officials will be inspecting homes and public places as part of the Safe Kerala initiative on August 11.

The Food Safety wing will also be inspecting eateries and food outlets as part of an intensive food safety drive, apart from organising public awareness campaigns on food safety and water safety.

Review meeting

At a meeting of senior medical officers from all districts here on Friday, the Health Department evaluated the first phase of its infectious diseases control drive.

Officials pointed out that systematic prevention and control measures had succeeded in bringing down the rate of infectious diseases.

In the second phase of the control measures, ward-level maps of infectious diseases in each district will be prepared to launch targeted action plans for disease prevention and control.
