The Safety Organisation of the Thiruvananthapuram railway division, on Wednesday, began a four-day safety campaign at unmanned level crossings in the Ernakulam-Alappuzha-Kayamkulam section in the wake of Sunday's accident near Mararikulam that killed four persons.
The campaign, being taken up in coordination with other departments of the railway division, will cover the 47 unmanned level crossings in the section.
Pamphlets and handouts detailing the safety precautions to be undertaken by road users at the level crossings are being distributed by railway personnel. Display cards and banners containing safety messages are also being exhibited.
Announcements emphasising the three cardinal principles to be observed, namely ?Stop', ?Look' and ?Proceed,' are also being made at all the unmanned level crossings.
