Retired policeman arrested for sexual abuse

A retired police official was arrested on Wednesday for alleged sexual abuse of a boy under the Poojappura police station limits.

According to the police, the accused has been identified as Krishnakumar, 62, of Thirumala.

He had retired as a sub-inspector of the special armed police battalion. He was arrested in connection with the incident that had allegedly taken place on Sunday.

“Krishnakumar is accused of sexually abusing the minor inside a shop he has been running since his retirement. He is also accused of threatening the victim against revealing the incident to his parents,” the police said.

The accused has been charged under relevant provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO).

He has been remanded to judicial custody after being produced at a local court on Wednesday.
