Schools say CBSE announced class X results without announcement

Students and teachers in schools affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) were taken by surprise on Monday evening when the official website of the board abruptly announced the results of the All India Secondary School Examination (class X examination).

School authorities in the city are miffed at the fact that they had to hear it from the media that the results had been released but the performance of their students, many of whom scored A1 in all subjects, came as a relief.

Arya Central School, Pattom, registered an impressive score with 66 out of a total of 212 students who took the examination getting A1 grade in all subjects. Principal Maitreyi Rajesh said that unlike previous years there was no release stating when the results would be announced.

In Saraswathi Vidyalaya, 32 earned A1 for all subjects and 180 got distinction out of a total of 300 students. Krishna Gayathri, a student, said she and her batch-mates were also surprised by the sudden announcement of the results.

“I was checking since morning for some notification regarding the announcement. There was some mention that the class X and XII results would be released simultaneously and others said class XII results would be released initially. I was browsing the website at 5 p.m. when this new box appeared saying that the class X results have been announced,” she said.

Viswabharthy Public School, Neyyatinkara, secured a 100 per cent pass and 43 out of the 117 students got A1 grade and the rest secured distinction. Jyothis Central School performed well too with 17 out of the 60 students scoring A1 grade. At Christ Nagar Senior Secondary School 53 scored A1, out of the 222 students.

At Sree Chitra Tirunal Residential Central School, Kunnathukal, 14 secured A1 out of the 93 students who took the examination and at their Chirayinkeezh branch, seven of the 40 students earned the top grade.

At St. Thomas Central School, 71 secured A1 out of the 248 students. At Kendriya Vidyalaya, Pattom 316 students took the examination and 58 got A1 in all subjects. As many as 39 out of the 223 at Bharathiya Vidya Bhavan and 24 out of 198 at Chinmaya Vidyalaya secured A1.
