Remove complex entries in ration card forms: Pinarayi

January 12, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 06:00 am IST - THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:

Communist Party of India (Marxist) State unit secretary Pinarayi Vijayan has urged the government to remove the complex entries in the application form for new ration cards so that eligible poor families are not denied the service.

In a statement here on Sunday, Mr. Vijayan said the stipulation that applicants must furnish information regarding power, water, and gas bills and pension book would create difficulties for those living in rented premises. In such places, the power and water bills would be in the name of the owners of the buildings. Many were worried that failure to furnish these details would lead to denial of ration cards, he said.

The CPI(M) State secretary said that nobody should be victimised for not being able to furnish such information.
