The Aranmula Ponnamma Foundation will celebrate the 100 birth anniversary of the late national award-winning actor on April 3.

Ms. Ponnamma passed away in February 2011 after an acting career that spanned over five decades and saw powerful performances from her both on the screen and in theatre as well. On April 3, Minister for Transport Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan will inaugurate the celebrations at the Vyloppilly Sanskriti Bhavan here. Filmmaker Balachandra Menon will deliver the memorial lecture. Adoor Gopalakrishnan, G.K. Pillai, Suresh Gopi and several others in the film industry and cultural scene will attend the celebrations.

The function will honour the student who stood first in Carnatic Music and vocal music at the Swati Tirunal College of Music.

The award this year will be given to S.R. Sreekutty.
