Relief for endosulfan-hit loanees

The Cabinet has declared a three-month moratorium on repayment of all loans taken of by endosulfan victims.

The decision was made at the weekly Cabinet meeting held here on Wednesday. The meeting also announced a three-month moratorium on repayment of agriculture loans of farmers of Wayanad who are in distress.

The meeting also directed to freeze the revenue recovery proceedings in connection with the loans.

A sum of Rs.3 lakh each has been sanctioned to Shoukath Ali Kabeer of Alathur in Palakkad, K.R. George of Ezhupunna in Alappuzha, Arifudeen of Karunagapally in Kollam, T.B. Udayabhanu of Kurumbilavu and M.J. James of Potta, both in Thrissur and Thajudeen Omar Khan of Nalanchira in Thiruvananthapuram for kidney transplant.

The Cabinet also sanctioned Rs.2 lakh for the family of Venkitesh, a native of Alappuzha who died in a motorbike accident and Rs.3 lakh for the family of Adityan, 2, of Thottapally who got drowned.
