: Kerala State Red Cross Society chairman V. P. Muralidharan has demanded action against a group of CPI(M) leaders led by former MLA V. Sivankutty who allegedly barged into the office of the Society on Monday and abused female employees.

A press note issued here said CPI (M) leader Jayan Babu and Mayor V.K. Prasanth were part of the group. The group barged into the Society office in the presence of police personnel, the press note said. Deputy Tahsildar Sreekantan Nair whom the Collector had deputed for the administration of the Red Cross aided the group in its activities, the press note alleged.

Meanwhile, a press note issued here by CPI(M) district secretary Anavoor Nagappan alleged that a group of persons led by RSS leader Muralidharan and Congress leader Sunil C. Kurian barged into the Society office and made away with registers kept there.

The term of the present committee got over on August 5. However, fresh elections were not notified. The government has ordered a Crime Branch inquiry into allegations of corruption during the tenure of the previous committee, the press note said.

The police should take urgent steps to arrest those who made away with records and registers from the Society office, the press note added.
