Dr. Ambedkar Memorial Model Residential School, Kattela, has emerged the winner in the district-level competitions for tribal schoolchildren in connection with the Reading Week observance. The competitions organised by the Information and Public Relations Department and the Integrated Tribal Development Project were held at Dr. Ambedkar Vidya Niketan CBSE School, Njaraneeli, on Friday.

The Kattela model residential school topped the literature quiz, poetry recitation, and painting competition based on literature events to bag the first prize.

D.K. Murali, MLA, who inaugurated the Reading Week meeting, said reading habit had not come down despite distress over the same.

Reading had a place of its own though information was available at one’s fingertips, he said.

Reading and development were possible the most during student days, and children should utilise such opportunities to the maximum extent possible, District Collector S. Venkatespathy who presided over the function said.

The MLA and the Collector gave away prizes to the students.
