One person was reported missing in the Killi river while another was electrocuted in the city during the rain from Wednesday night.

The continuing rain in the capital district also left 27 houses destroyed and 25 houses suffered damages. These include 25 houses in Muttathara and 23 in Chirayinkeezhu taluk.

Sea erosion was reported from various parts, with three houses destroyed in Valiyathura while several houses all along the coast were reported to be inundated late on Wednesday night.

According to officials, Vijayalakshmi, 38, had stepped into the river near Attukal around 10.30 a.m. on Thursday to have her bath when she was swept away. She was not traced when reports last came in at 9.30 p.m. In a separate incident, also near Attukal, a 43-year-old man, Kannan, was electrocuted when he came into contact with a live electric wire.

Officials said though there were reports of inundation along the coast, there were no major incidents and that no new relief camps had to be opened.
