Railway emergency quota

Norms to be made strict

March 02, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:44 am IST - THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:

The Railways have decided to make allotment of emergency quota (EQ) more responsive to prevent misuse and to deal with providing lower berths to senior citizens and the needy. Passengers who intend to apply for EQ accommodation in the Thiruvananthapuram railway division should approach the office of the Senior Divisional Commercial Manager in the divisional headquarters here two days in advance in person or through representatives or by fax (0471-2326482) or by mail to seniordcmtvc@gmail.com.

Applications must be supported by an attested copy of railway-notified ID proof and credentials for claiming the EQ. In case of interview, an attested copy of the call letter and a medical certificate in case of medical purposes have to be produced. The helpline 0471 2326484 will be available from 9.30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays. Onboard complaints can be given for immediate redressal to Toll Free Help Line 138, a railway release said. — Special Correspondent
