Tomorrow’s animation movie creators sat transfixed in front of their computer screens at the IT@School project office here at Jagathy during the final day of the three-day training in animation film direction.
There were 50 students who participated in the camp and who were equipped with the skills to turn their cautious digital brush strokes to miniature animation clips by the end of the three days.
The IT@School is, since 2011, organising such workshops for children in a bid to broaden the scope of IT education in schools.
They have been hugely popular with children picking up at remarkable pace the tricks of software, enabling the production of animation films. This week’s workshop was organised for children from Classes VIII and IX. The students were encouraged to keep improving on their work even after the camp. “It is unfair to expect them to work according to a schedule. The better clips will be selected later and those students will be offered a refresher course in a month,” district coordinator K.K Sajeev said. Cartoonist and animator E. Suresh led the sessions with training coordinator B. Jeevaraj.
