PWD road repairs soon

Maintenance works on roads falling under the Public Works Department (PWD) in the district will be taken up soon. The city Corporation roads at Easwaravilasom and the Kothuval street at Chala will be taken up for renovation by including them under the PWD's upgradation scheme.

A meeting of the District Development Committee, chaired by Minister for Transport V.S. Sivakumar, also decided to widen the stretch from the Chala Tamil school to the bypass and cover the stormwater drains with concrete slabs. The meeting decided to seek Rs.2 crore from the government to pay assistance to those affected by the monsoon and other natural calamities.

Shashi Tharoor, MP; Koliakode Krishnan Nair, Palode Ravi, V. Sivankuty, all MLAs; and District Collector P.M. Fransics attended.
