As many as 36 projects will be kicked off by the Public Works Department (PWD) across the State from April 20 in connection with the second anniversary of the United Democratic Front (UDF) government.
The work of the Rs.1,328 coastal corridor from Kozhikode to Ponnani will be kicked off and the railway overbridge (ROB) at Koyilandy will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Oommen Chandy on April 20. The date of inauguration of 16 projects to be taken up by the PWD had been fixed already, according to Minister for Public Works V.K. Ebrahim Kunju.
The World Bank-aided Kerala State Transport Project’s phase II will be inaugurated by Mr. Chandy on June 1 along with the inauguration of the ROB at Payannur.
The pilot project of concretisation of roads in the State will be kicked off with the inauguration of the Rs.18-crore work in the HMT junction-Manalimukku on May 23.
The four-lane work of the Airport-Seaport road and construction of a Rs.27.50-crore bridge across Periyar as part of the second phase of the Airport-Seaport road will be inaugurated on the same day by the Chief Minister. The ROBs at Koratty and Ponnarunni will also be inaugurated on May 23.
On May 11, the Edapalam-Murkanad bridge that links Malappuram and Palakkad districts and the ROB at Parappanangadi will be inaugurated. On June 8, the Palakkad-Sulthan Bathery ROB will be inaugurated.
