As a sign of protest against the imposition of 12% tax on sanitary napkins under the Goods and Services Tax, students of the University of Kerala on Thursday sent sanitary napkins with ‘Bleed without fear, bleed without tax’ written on them to Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley.
The protest, organised by the Students Federation of India campus committee, was inaugurated by federation central committee member Khadeejat Suhail.
In her address, Ms. Suhail demanded that the Union government roll back the 12% tax.
Sanitary napkins should be made available at the lowest price possible and sanitary napkin vending machines should be established in all educational institutions, she said.
