Leader of the Opposition V.S. Achuthanandan has sought police protection for Salim of Kazhakuttam, who had given evidence against key underworld players in the capital city.
In a statement here on Tuesday, Mr. Achuthanandan said that Salim and his family were facing death threat from the gang led by Omprakash, who had been sentenced to life term for having killed ‘Aprani’ Krishnakumar.
Although the police had initially given protection to Salim and the members of his family, the cover was withdrawn following intervention by M.A. Wahid, legislator, the Opposition Leader alleged in the statement.
