Schemes aimed at the comprehensive development of the district will be included in the recommendations made for the formulation of the final approach paper to the 12th Five Year Plan, Transport Minister V.S. Sivakumar said here on Saturday.
He was presiding over a meeting of elected representatives of the district organised ahead of the Chief Minister's mass contact programme to be held in the city on November 10.
The meeting discussed complaints received from members of the public at the mass contact programmes organised by various government departments and agencies.
So far, 6,691 complaints had been received, a statement released here said.
These included 6,297 complaints from the Thiruvananthapuram, Nedumangadu, Chiryankeezhu, and Neyyatinkara taluk offices. As many as 394 complaints had been forwarded from various departments.
The statement added that 18 per cent of 40,100 pending files in the district had been disposed of.
As many as 17,000 applications for below-poverty line cards were also pending. Chief Minister Oommen Chandy had requested the Planning Commission of India to approve these applications, Mr. Sivakumar said.
Financial aid
As many as 32 families which had been affected by natural disaster at Poonthura would get financial aid, the statement added.
Mayor K. Chandrika; M.A. Wahid and Palode Ravi, MLAs; District Collector M. Nandakumar; and Additional District Magistrate D.M. Muhammed Musthafa participated in the meeting.
