Probe ordered into frequent pipe bursts in Trivandrum

Upa Lok Ayukta K.P. Balachandran on Wednesday registered a suo motu case on the frequent pipe bursts in the capital city and directed the investigating agency attached to it and headed by Additional Director General of Police Jacob Thomas to inquire and report on the matter. The Upa Lok Ayukta also directed the Managing Director, Kerala Water Authority (KWA), to furnish the names of the officials responsible for maintaining water supply to the city.

The Upa Lok Ayukta registered the case based on media reports that the newly laid pipeline from Aruvikkara to Kachani had burst on account of unscientific execution of the work. The Upa Lok Ayukta took into consideration the frequent pipe bursts that throw the life of the residents of Thiruvananthapuram out of gear, a press release here on Wednesday said.
