Students should take the lead to create a tobacco-free world, Food and Civil Supplies Minister Anoop Jacob has said.
He was inaugurating a cancer prevention group formed by KIMS Pinnacle Cancer Centre, in association with Lourde Matha church, here on Tuesday.
The cancer prevention group will work towards motivating school and college students to create public awareness to stop tobacco use, which is one of the important public health measures to reduce cancer incidence in society.
The programme was held at Nirmala Bhavan School here, where a painting competition on anti-tobacco awareness was held earlier. The prizes for the winners of the painting competition were distributed by playback singer Vidhu Pratap.
Fr. Sony Mundunakkal, Director of Lourde Matha Care; M.I. Sahadulla, Chairman and Managing Director, KIMS Group; E.M. Najeeb, Executive Director KIMS hospital; and Sr. Liza Maliakal, Principal, Nirmala Bhavan School, were present.
