President arrives to a warm welcome in Thiruvananthapuram

President Pranab Mukherjee, who arrived in Thiruvananthapuram on Monday evening on a two-day visit to Kerala, was accorded a warm reception at the airport.

Governor H.R. Bhardwaj; Transport Minister V.S. Sivakumar; Chief Secretary K. Jayakumar; District Collector K.N. Satheesh; Mayor K. Chandrika; and Director General of Police K.S. Balasubramanian received him on his arrival.

Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation K.C. Venugopal and State Rural Development and Culture Minister K.C. Joseph had accompanied the President from Delhi on the Air Force plane.

Speaker G. Karthikeyan; the Ministers Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan, P.K. Kunhalikutty, K.M. Mani, and K. Babu; Deputy Chairman of the Rajya Sabha P.J. Kurien; Deputy Speaker N. Sakthan; Air Vice Marshal G.P. Singh (Senior Officer in-charge, Administration, Southern Air Command); Station Commander Brigadier Pradeep Narayanan (Pangode military camp); Union Minister of State for Human Resource Shashi Tharoor; and KPCC president Ramesh Chennithala were among those present.
