They allegedly doused him with used motor oil

The police on Tuesday submitted in court the charge sheet against nine activists of the Kerala Students Union (KSU) for allegedly dousing in discarded motor oil the Higher Secondary Director Keshvendra Kumar.

On February 5, eight activists of the union, including the Thiruvananthapuram unit district secretary Sippy Noorudhin, were arrested after they barged into Mr. Kumar’s office room and allegedly threw discarded motor oil on him.

They were later let off after furnishing a bail for Rs.5 lakh.

A press note issued here said the police had named 19 eyewitnesses, including Mr. Kumar, in the charge sheet, and had submitted as material objects 11 items soaked in motor oil.

Charges

The police had charged Sippy Noorudhin, Vighnesh, Sreelal, P.A. Anees, Shanuraz, Saddiq, Adanaz, Ansar, and Shemim with destruction of public property, obstructing official duty, unlawful assembly, unlawful detention, and causing bodily harm. Video clippings of the incident have been submitted along with the charge sheet.

The police investigation into the incident was done by a team led by Circle Inspector, Thampanoor, Sheen Tharayil, the press note said.
