PG programme for Chinese students

The University of Kerala will soon start offering an international postgraduate programme in Bioinformatics for students from China.

This was decided on Thursday during an ongoing visit by a delegation from the University of Kerala to the Henan University in China. The University delegation is led by Pro Vice Chancellor J. Prabhash, and comprises the director of the Centre for International Academics Achuthsankar S. Nair and Syndicate member B. S. Jyothikumar.

According to an email to The Hindu by the varsity delegation, the Henan University, in turn, has agreed to establish a Confucius Institute in the University of Kerala to teach Chinese culture and language. The 100-year-old Chinese university also agreed to initiate staff and student exchange programmes, the email read.

The Chinese team was led by Professor Lou Yuangong, the Chancellor of the Henan University. Deans of various Schools and the Director of International Affairs of the Henan University also participated in the discussions..
