Utter confusion is prevailing in Thiruvananthapuram international airport since Tuesday morning in view of the cancellation of three flights by Air India from here to Delhi, Chennai and Sharjah in view of the nation-wide strike by the executive pilots of the airline.

The flights cancelled by the national carrier are the IC 466 Thiruvananthapuram-Kochi-Delhi that was to depart at 6.15 a.m., the IC 909 Thiruvananthapuram-Chennai-Bangalore that was to depart from here at 6 a.m. The IC 967 Chennai-Trichy-Thiruvananthapuram-Sharjah that was to depart from here at 4.10 p.m. had also been cancelled in view of the agitation by the pilots, Airline sources said.

The A-320 aircraft that was to operate in Thiruvananthapuram-Chennai-Bangalore sector is lying in the airport. The aircraft that was to operate to Delhi had not arrived as the airline had cancelled the flight from there on Monday night.

The passengers who are to fly by these flights are up in arms as the airline authorities are not able to take care of them. Many of them who had to take connection flights are also upset following the sudden cancellation of the flights.

Airline sources said the management had not yet given any instructions on the alternate arrangements for the stranded passengers. The flights operated by private airlines to the various cities from Thiruvananthapuram are full, airport sources said.
