Panel to probe patient’s death in Neyyattinkara taluk hospital

The inquiry was ordered by Health Minister V.S. Sivakumar

A committee, headed by the Health Secretary and including the State Drugs Controller, the Director of Health Services, and the Additional Director of Health Services (Vigilance), will inquire into the death of a patient at the Neyyattinkara taluk hospital on Thursday. Sunilkumar, 39, who had been undergoing treatment, had died allegedly following the administration of an antibiotic injection. The inquiry was ordered by Health Minister V.S. Sivakumar.

The body of the deceased was shifted to the Medical College Hospital here, where a post-mortem examination was conducted on Friday. The doctors at the taluk hospital had suspected drug reaction as another patient too had developed fits after being administered the same injection on Thursday. The drug had been bought from the Neethi medical store in the hospital compound.
