Optimise resources, Air Force chief tells personnel

Air Force chief Air Marshal Arup Raha on Wednesday stressed the need to modernise the Air Force and enhance its capability to face various challenges.

Interacting with the Command Staff and Commanders of Southern Air Command (SAC) here, he emphasised optimisation of resources, enhancement of the operational capability and ensuring the security of Air Force assets, both human and equipment. While complimenting the Air Warriors of SAC, he exhorted the personnel to be good professionals and operationalise new equipment in a systematic manner.

He complimented SAC for the rescue operations carried out during the fireworks tragedy at Puttingal Temple and the floods in Chennai last year.

He laid stress on training and increasing the professional competency to achieve a high level of aerospace safety record, an official release here said.

Earlier, the Air Force chief was received at the airport by Air Marshal Jasbir Walia, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Southern Air Command, along with Harbinder Walia, president of the regional wing of the Air Force Wives’ Welfare Association.

Air Marshal Arup Raha also visited the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre and viewed various facilities including Hypersonic Wind Tunnel, Plasma Wind Tunnel, Thermo Vacuum facility and Hot Isostatic Press. He was briefed about the Independent Regional Navigation Satellite System.

Director of VSSC K. Sivan briefed the Air Chief on the rocket technology and the ongoing and future projects at the VSSC, the release said.
