September 22, 2010 04:14 pm | Updated 04:14 pm IST - THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:

Facilities for online shopping will be introduced during the fourth season of Kerala Tourism's 45-day Grand Kerala Shopping Festival (GKSF) that commences on December 1.

An individual can shop through the website of the GKSF from any of the firms registered for the shopping festival, general convener of the festival T. Balakrishnan said in a press release.

“It is for the first time that such a system is being introduced for a shopping festival and the government is hopeful that traders in the State will get the benefit from this novel facility,” he said.

A nominal fee would be levied from firms that register for the festival to provide the online shopping facility. “The shoppers need to click a link of the online shopping in the GKSF's official website to proceed. The list of the firms that offers the facility for online shopping and the products on offer will be displayed. The shoppers can purchase products of their choice,” Mr. Balakrishnan said.

The facility would be equipped to check online frauds, he added.
