The burgeoning list of mobile and web-based applications has a new entrant - one that aims at bridging the distance between physicians and patients.

Medpicky, developed by a group of engineering graduates, enables users to raise health-related queries with doctors across specialties free of cost.

The application has been designed in a manner that allows registered users to view queries and conversations that have been initiated by others .

Treasure trove of information

“The particular feature can gradually develop the application into a treasure trove of information which could dispel several misconceptions that prevail among us,” says R.C. Deepak, a co-founder of the start-up, which had been incubated at the Technology Business Incubator in the College of Engineering, Thiruvananthapuram, (CET-TBI) a year ago.

Besides Mr. Deepak, the endeavour has been founded by S. Sujith with R.S. Jishnu and Nandu Raja Sekhar as its team members. “He said that questions pertaining to particular specialisations will be forwarded to the respective panel of doctors for their expert views and recommendations. It also provides the option of fixing appointments with any registered doctor without the start-up generating any revenue in this regard.

Over 150 doctors, employed in both private and public health institutions across the State, have registered in the application as of yet. According to Sudhir S. Pai, an orthopaedic surgeon who practices in a city hospital, Medpicky provides the option of obtaining expert opinion through the common forum.
