Thiruvananthapuram North sub-district has emerged triumphant at the Thiruvananthapuram revenue district school arts festival by topping the higher secondary school (HSS) category, successfully defending the championship they had won a year ago.
Having secured 369 points, the Thiruvananthapuram North sub-district ensured a comfortable victory over second-placed Thiruvananthapuram South sub-district, which garnered 347 points. The hosts, Attingal, came third with 339 points.
In a tight finish, the Kilimanoor sub-district topped the high school (HS) category with 300 points, only a point more than Thiruvananthapuram North (299). Attingal came third with 293 points.
In the upper primary (UP) category, Attingal topped with 149 points. They were followed by Kilimanoor (143) and Nedumangad (128).
The Palode sub-district came first in both the UP and HS Sanskrit categories with 90 and 84 points respectively. Attingal topped the UP Arabic category with 65 points. In the HS Arabic category, Kilimanoor and Attingal shared the first position with 81 points each.
Among the schools, Carmel E.M. Girls HSS, Vazhuthacaud, emerged first in the HSS category with 126 points. Government Model HSS for Boys, Attingal, occupied the first runners-up position with 106 points. New HSS, Nellimood (99 points) and St. Theresa’s Convent Girls HSS, Neyyattinkara (44) topped the HS and UP sections respectively.
B. Sathyan, MLA, gave away the prizes. Filmmaker Rajasenan was the chief guest on the occasion. Over 6,000 contestants, representing 12 sub-districts, took part in the four-day festival that was organised in 12 venues.
