The State government on Saturday accorded sanction to the Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation (KSIDC) to conduct a pre-feasibility study for an Aeropolis centred on the Thiruvananthapuram International Airport.

The Aeropolis was a proposal put forth by the Airport Director in February. The proposal said it was a novel, inclusive growth concept for the premier airport of the State, envisaging economic interventions and creation of a common platform for all aviation-related activities of the major industrial and information technology units situated in the vicinity of the airport.

The State Planning Board had discussed the proposal in March and it was decided that a pre-feasibility study would be done by the KSIDC on aero-related industrial activities that could be undertaken by various Central and State agencies which already have ventures in the city.
