March 01, 2012 11:32 am | Updated 11:32 am IST - Thiruvananthapuram:

At least nine persons were injured in a firework display at a temple near Chirayankeezhu early on Wednesday.

The police said the accident occurred when a skyrocket, a powerful aerial firework display device, veered off its intended trajectory and exploded inside the walls of the Thengumvila Mudapuram Bhagavathy temple at 2.30 a.m.

The police and emergency services immediately rushed the injured persons to hospitals. Few of them sustained relatively serious burns. The police arrested the pyro-technicians in charge of the display.
