New rail ticket counter at Kattakada

A passenger reservation office of the Southern Railway will start functioning at Kattakkada grama panchayat building from Wednesday.

It will be the 22nd non-railhead passenger reservation counter under the Thiruvananthapuram railway division and the sixth one in the district.

The other counters functioning in the capital district are at Government Secretariat; Civil station, Kudappanakunnu; Municipal Office, Nedumangad; Municipal Office, Attingal and at the Government Medical College Hospital, Thiruvananthapuram.

C. P. Narayanan, MP, will inaugurate the reservation office at a function to be presided over by A. Sampath, MP.As per Railway Board policy, MPs can nominate one non railhead passenger reservation system in their constituency. Railway provides hardware, software and training to the government staff who operate the counter. Other infrastructure is arranged by the MP.
