Mr. Sivakumar said Rs.30 lakh more, apart from the Rs.15 lakh already allotted, would be made available for the renovation and repair of the Staff Nurses’ Hostel.

The proposed new hostel building would have facilities to accommodate 210 students. The nursing college had 576 students doing various courses, out of which 400 stayed in the current hostel building, creating congestion. The new building had been constructed by the PWD, he said.

M.A. Waheed, MLA, presided over the function. Medical college Principal (in-charge) K.R. Vinayakumar, Nursing College Principal Valsa K. Panicker, Deputy Director of Nursing Education Y. Prasannakumari, and the Registrar of the Kerala Nursing and Midwives’ Council R. Latha spoke.
