Autorickshaws having city permit will spot yellow colour in the front, probably after November, with the Transport Department deciding to bring in a colour code to differentiate autorickshaws with permit and those without one.
The decision to impose colour code was taken at a meeting convened by District Collector Biju Prabhakar, who is also the chairman of Thiruvananthapuram Regional Transport Authority (RTA), on Saturday. As per the decision, the autos with permit should be painted yellow in the front. The owners would be given six months to implement the colour code. The decision was taken to identify autorickshaws plying in the city without permit, an official release said here.
Parallel services
The RTA meeting also decided to initiate strict action against private vehicles conducting parallel services and those violating road safety rules. Tahsildars would be asked to serve notices to owners of private vehicles operating parallel services. If they continued to operate after the notice period, stern action would be initiated.
The permit of vehicles found violating road safety rules would be cancelled and the license of drivers would be suspended. The meeting also decided to suspend the licences of drivers of KSRTC and private buses who do not park the vehicles in the allotted bays.
