Nemom murder: 4 held

Three of the accused hail from Kalliyoor and one hails from Thenmala

The Nemom police, on Thursday, recorded the arrest of four persons in connection with the murder of 60-year-old Rasalam, a physically challenged man who was hacked to death late on Tuesday.

According to S. Ajaykumar, Circle Inspector, Nemom, and K. Premkumar, sub- inspector, the accused were Shyju, 31, of Thenmala, Pradeep alias ‘Bulb’ Kannan, 45, Rajagopal, and Reji, 27, all three from Kalliyoor.

Mr. Ajaykumar said the murder was a conspiracy hatched by the four, after Reji was denied permission by Rasalam to consume liquor in the latter’s house. After he had an argument with Rasalam, he had left and engaged the other three to kill Rasalam. Shyju, the first accused, had various cases registered against him.

The second accused, Bulb Kannan, was an accused in an attempt to murder a policeman by hurling a bomb at him and nearly 20 other cases registered in the Nemom station alone. The third accused, Reji, was a murder accused in Pathanamthitta, and burglary cases in different the Poojappura, Nemom, Balaramapuram, and Aranmula police stations. — Special Correspondent
