The district panchayat will soon get the administrative control of Nedumangad taluk hospital. The government has started the process of transferring administrative control of the hospital to the local body, district panchayat president Remani P. Nair has said.
Winding up the discussion on annual Budget for the next fiscal on Wednesday, she said the beneficiaries under the Indira Awas Yojana scheme would be given the local body’s share of money during next financial year.
Panchayat vice-president Rufus Daniel said suggestions made by the members would be given due consideration. The panchayat was open to the suggestion of extending the comprehensive paddy cultivation programme to more areas, he said.
Earlier, participating in the discussion, LDF leader N. Ratheendran said the Budget lacked vision in addressing farmers’ issues. The Budget excluded several areas where there was scope for paddy cultivation.
The scope for introducing comprehensive farming in nine places that found mention in the Budget was very limited, he said.
The Budget had completely neglected the manufacturing sector. The panchayat also failed to implement any of the schemes mentioned in the current Budget, he said.
