NCD programme to be strengthened

The State’s non-communicable diseases control programme will be strengthened in all rural areas, said Minister for Health V.S. Sivakumar.

He was inaugurating a year-long training programme on evidence-based diabetes management for doctors in the State Health Services here on Thursday, a joint venture of the National Rural Health Mission and the Public Health Foundation of India. In the first phase of the training programme, 125 government doctors are being given training in diabetes management. More than 1 crore people in the State over 30 years of age will be screened for lifestyle diseases under the NCD l programme in the next one year.
