MVD drive against erring motorists

Over Rs.3 lakh was collected from the erring motorists in the capital by the Motor Vehicles Department during a drive on Saturday.

As many as 128 motorcyclists were booked for not wearing helmet and 62 for not having valid driving licence. Six were booked for using mobile while driving and their driving licence will be suspended. The drive was led by RTO R. Thualsidharan Pillai.

The officials booked 37 vehicles for not remitting tax, 45 for not having valid insurance, 28 for not having fitness certificate, 40 drivers booked for using horns beyond the permissible decibel and overload.

As many as 12 autorickshaws that did not have the valid documents were also booked.
