More kerosene through ration shops

May 16, 2012 06:31 pm | Updated July 11, 2016 05:55 pm IST - THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:

Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said here on Wednesday that the government was contemplating increase in kerosene supplied through ration shops from next month.

During this month, families without power connections would get four litres of kerosene and others one litre at subsidised rates.

The Chief Minister told the media that the State had sought allocation of higher quantities of kerosene at subsidised rates. However, the Centre was not willing to revert to the old scheme, but agreed to provide kerosene at market rates. So, the State government would provide subsidy on kerosene obtained at market rates.

He said that there had been no reduction in the quantity of kerosene supplied to fishermen.
