Supporting students from Kerala who interested in attempting the Civil Services examinations is a valuable investment on part of the State government and can never be viewed as a financial drain, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said on Tuesday. Speaking at a ceremony organised by the Kerala State Civil Service Academy to honour the 45 students of the academy who qualified in the 2013 examination, he said more sub-centres of the academy will opened soon.
Funds have been allotted for a new building in Thiruvananthapuram and students will be provided to and fro flight tickets to New Delhi, Mr. Chandy said. He said it was encouraging how quickly the number of Malayalis in the rank list increased ever since the academy was launched by the Centre for Continuing Education-Kerala in 2005.
The introduction of virtual classrooms further improved the reach of the academy, said Education Minister P.K. Abdu Rabb. Chief Secretary Bharat Bhushan, former Education Minister M.A Baby and chief mentor Babu Paul also spoke at the function.
