Mobile ice cream units from Milma

Thiruvananthapuram Regional Cooperative Milk Producers Union Limited (TRCMPU) will roll out mobile ice cream parlours in the districts of Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Alappuzha, and Pathanamthitta from Wednesday.

TRCMPU, the regional arm of Kerala Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation Ltd. (KCMMF or Milma), in association with the Scheduled Castes Development Department would provide three-wheelers fitted with eutectic freezers for sale of non-milk products such as ice cream, milk lolly, ice candy, besides other products to 40 unemployed youths belonging to the Scheduled Caste community, chairman of Milma Kallada Ramesh told reporters here.

Minister for Welfare of Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes A.P. Anil Kumar would inaugurate the project in the city on Wednesday. The Ministry had sanctioned a sum of Rs.1 crore for rolling out the programme, Mr. Ramesh said. At the function, Minister for Dairy Development K. C Joseph would distribute milk pails having 10 litre capacity to farmers. The National Dairy Development Board had decided to implement clean milk project in Thiruvananthapuram.

The project taken up at a cost of Rs 4. 2 crore would help augment infrastructure facility at milk collection points, Mr Ramesh said.
