MLA’s fast enters day two

May 06, 2013 03:01 pm | Updated July 29, 2016 10:37 am IST - THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:

Speaker G. Karthikeyan on Sunday called upon Kovur Kunjumon, MLA, whose hunger strike in front of the Secretariat demanding steps to protect the Sasthamcotta freshwater lake entered the second day.

Mr. Karthikeyan said his visit was just to enquire upon the health of the legislator and not in any other context. “I am the Speaker and a legislator of the Assembly is on a fast here. So I came to ask about his health condition,” Mr. Karthikeyan said.

Later in the day, Revolutionary Socialist Party State secretary A.A. Azeez, MLA, issued a statement condemning the reported statement of Union Minister of State for Labour Kodikunnil Suresh ridiculing Mr. Kunjumon’s stir.
