Minister for Local Self Government Paloli Mohamedktty inaugurates the facility for online issue of birth, death and marriage certificates at the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation office on Thursday.

Local Self Government (LSG) Minister Paloli Mohammed Kutty on Thursday inaugurated the online system for accessing and issue of birth, death and marriage certificates from local bodies at the City Corporation office.

The system has been installed by Information Kerala Mission (IKM), an e-governance cell under the LSG Department. The Sevana Civil Registration software developed by IKM will enable online verification of birth, death and marriage certificates registered at local bodies. Public will also be able to download and print the certificates from the Sevana website using the facility.

Speaking at the function Mr. Mohammed Kutty said that Kerala has made a giant leap in e-governance by becoming the first State in the country to have such an online system for issue of birth, death and marriage certificates.

“We hope that the new system will help overcome a lot of inconveniences for the public by enabling the access of registered certificates from any part of the world,” he said.

Mayor C. Jayan Babu, who presided over the function, said that the online service, rendered free to the public, will also avoid discrepancies and circulation of fake certificates.

Deputy Mayor V. Jayaprakash, IKM Executive Chairman and Director M.K. Prasad, Corporation Health Standing Committee Chairman G.R. Anil, Development Standing Committee Chairman K.O. Ashokan, Welfare Standing Committee Chairman S.A. Sundar, Works Standing Committee Chairman Puthenkada Vijayan, Tax Appeal Standing Committee Chairperson Aiysha Baker and Corporation Additional Secretary C. Radhakrishna Kurup were also present.
