Milma staff strike work

December 10, 2015 12:00 am | Updated March 24, 2016 02:51 pm IST - THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:

Employees of Kerala Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation Ltd. (Milma) are on strike demanding implementation of government recognised pension and welfare fund.

The employees had announced an indefinite strike from Wednesday midnight.

Milma chairman P.T. Gopala Kurup said strike-like conditions prevailed from Wednesday evening itself.

Supply of milk, he said, would be affected on Thursday. Milk collection too was almost certain to be hit, he said, adding that ways to avoid disruption in milk collection in days to come were being explored in case the strike continued.

Mr. Kurup said it was difficult to make alternative supply arrangements, and talks were on to get the staff to go back on their decision to strike work.

The Milma chairman said Minister for Dairy Development and Milk Cooperatives K.C. Joseph would hold talks in this connection on December 16.
