Minister for Health V.S. Sivakumar will release the Karunya community pharmacy’s family medicine card and loyalty bonus card at the Secretariat on Friday.

The cards are being distributed in connection with the opening of 35 new Karunya community pharmacy centres in hospitals, where medicines will be available at 20 to 90 per cent cheaper than the market price. This is being implemented as a pilot project in Thiruvananthapuram.

Registration for the family medicine card will begin on Friday. Application forms will be available at all the community centres, Corporation head office and on the website www.kmscl.kerala.gov.in.

The card will be useful for patients undergoing constant medication. The medicines will be made available at home whenever necessary. The card-holders are also eligible for an additional discount of two percent. Collection of bonus points of 200 can fetch a discount of Rs.200 for the next purchase. Loyalty bonus cards are for those who purchase medicines directly from the pharmacies. The cards will be made available from Friday.
