The State government will approve the Master Plan for the development of the Government Medical College Hospital (MCH) without delay, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has said.

He said the government’s aim was to turn it into a patient-friendly world class institution.

He was speaking after the State-level inauguration of the patient-friendly outpatient facilities as part of the Aardram project and the new building of the Mother and Child Centre at the SAT Hospital on Wednesday.

He also inaugurated the system for advanced appointments for patients as part of the Aardram project.

“An amount of ₹400 crore has been earmarked for the preparation of the Medical College Master Plan in the budget through KIIFB. The Master Plan will include the Centre for Excellence project submitted by the Medical College to KIIFFB as well as all other developmental projects. Steps will also be taken to convert other Medical Colleges into Centres of Excellence too similarly,” said the CM. He said long queues usually scene in outpatient facilities would be absent in the patient-friendly OP facility. “Those who depend on government hospitals are common people. The aim of every project in the health sector is to reduce their difficulties in accessing these. There will be local OP and referral OP. Special facilities are made available for the differently abled. Thousands of patients come here for treatment daily. We have to ensure that not one of them face any kind of difficulties here,” he said.
