Master plan in 6 months

In six months’ time, the Thiruvananthapuram Development Authority (TRIDA) will prepare the master plan for the Attukal Township project. The TRIDA, which is the nodal agency for the project, has commenced its work, which includes survey of 29 wards and consultation with various stakeholders, Minister for Health V. S Sivakumar, who is also the chairman of the Temple Town Advisory Committee, said in a statement here on Monday.

A sum of Rs.24 crore had been earmarked for the project in 2011-12 and 2012-2013 budgets. Apart from comprehensive development of the 29 wards, thrust would also be given to development of infrastructure in the adjoining areas of Thampanoor, Chala, East Fort and Killipalam.

Administrative clearance had been sought to improve the approach roads towards Attukal at a cost of around Rs.146 crore. Manacaud-Kuriyathi-Attukal-Chiramukku- Kalady road, Chiramukku- Konchiravila- Milma Road, and Manacaud-Kalippankulam-Konchiravila road would be taken up for improvement work, the statement said.
