As the events of the first two days came to an end, Mar Ivanios College, Thiruvananthapuram, is leading with 41 points in the 40th Kerala University Youth Festival.

Sree Swathi Thirunal College of Music, Thiruvananthapuram, is second with 17 points and University College, Thiruvananthapuram, is third with 13 points.

Mar Ivanios College, the present champions, came first in four events when the results of 19 competitions were announced.

Mohiniattam, the first event at the main venue at Sree Narayana College, which began on Tuesday night continued till the wee hours of Wednesday.

Despite many events running late and issues regrading time management, all the main venues drew good crowds. The performers had to wait for nearly two hours for many events to start, creating confusion for those participating in multiple items.

The recent murder of tribal youth Madhu turned out to be the choice for many in monoact and fancy dress competitions, while some others opted for Sreejith and his protest in front of the Secretariat.

The participants in the photography competition were asked to capture vignettes of the festival itself. Some main events to be held on Thursday include mimicry, Kuchipudi, Oppana, folk dance, Margamkali and elocution.
