: Manju Warrier will make her foray into theatre by enacting Shakuntala in the Sanskrit play, Abhinjnana Shakuntakam . Her venture, Manju Warrier Productions is producing the play as a tribute to Kavalam Narayana Panicker.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the play at the Tagore Theatre here on July 18 at 6.30 p.m. in the presence of Culture Minister A.K. Balan. Sopanam Institute of Performing Arts and Research, founded by Kavalam, will stage the play and Swaralaya will host the programme. Addressing a press meet on Monday to announce the inauguration of the play, Manju Warrier said this was the first time in her life that she was uttering a line of Sanskrit. “I have not learnt Sanskrit in school. My introduction to the language was through the first line of the script of this play. But, I don’t think language is a barrier to performing or enjoying art,” she said.

Manju Warrier said she had the good fortune to associate with Kavalam during the last phase of his legendary creative life.
