Man held on forgery charges

Chief Judicial Magistrate Rajaram Retnakumar Kamath, on Monday, ordered the police to register a case of forgery and cheating against Muhammad Sajeeb, 50, of Vallakkadavu.

He passed the order on the basis of a complaint lodged by Clarence Miranda, a lawyer.

Muhammad arrived at Mr. Miranda's office to seek his assistance in getting bail for his relative, Nawaz, who is an accused in several criminal cases and currently in jail.

Muhammad gave two allegedly forged judgements to the lawyer. Mr. Miranda furnished the suspect documents in the Chief Judicial Magistrate's court.

Deputy Director of Prosecution V. Radhakrishnan Nair asked Mr. Miranda to sign the copies of the suspect documents before submitting it before court as evidence.

Subsequently, the Vanchiyoor police arrested Muhammad.
