The Thiruvallam police on Wednesday booked a 30-year-old house owner on the charge of pouring hot water on a two-year-old girl to vent his ire on her mother, his tenant and a migrant worker from Tamil Nadu, for repeatedly failing to pay rent.

They identified the accused as Sati, 30. The police are yet to arrest him.

They said the child sustained severe burn injuries in the incident.

The police have booked him under the relevant provisions of the Juvenile Justice Act.

Attack on CI: one held

The Neyyattinkara police arrested a 35-year-old man in connection with the attack on Circle Inspector M. Anil Kumar at a local temple festival in June. They identified the accused as Binu S. alias Gym Binu.

Held on rape charge

The Balaramapuram police arrested a 26-year-old man on charge of raping his neighbour’s daughter, a seven-year-old girl. They said the suspect, Vipin, had enticed the girl by giving her sweets and ice cream without her parents’ knowledge and had sexually exploited her. Childline workers had brought the matter to the notice of the police.

Student abused on bus

An yet-to-be identified person sexually assaulted an 18-year-old college student on a public transport bus at Aralanmoodu near Balaramapuram on Wednesday. The police said the offender punched the girl in the face when she resisted his advances, jumped off the bus, and fled.
